These days I've been way too tired to read a whole lot at home. But I've picked up my favorite book The World is Flat by Thomas Friedman and have been rereading snippets.

Well, I haven't yet started to read The Gate House. It has about a million pages and I'm afraid I won't be able to put it down once I start.
Am in the middle of reading Redefining Literacy 2.0. It's an inspiring read with tons of big ideas and provocative insights into reading instruction. I keep using my yellow hilighter in this book.

- I haven't read anything by Hamill (yet). Speaking of memoirs, have you read a book by Frank McCourt called Angela's Ashes? It takes place in Ireland. Very moving and gritty. PS. I think I pilfered this copy from your classroom a while ago? I had to do a coverage there once. Sorry. I promise to return it.

My favorite, A Drinking Life, by Pete Hamill, paints a vivid picture at growing up with alcohol as a major crutch in his father's life and how he had to make a conscious effort to conquer this part of his Irish cultural bloodline.
